What Is Coaching?

A conversation that strengthens your judgment—not a substitute for it.

Coaching is a disciplined partnership for thinking, choosing, practicing, and acting with greater clarity. You remain the person who decides what matters and what you will do.

What happens in coaching

I listen for what you are saying and what has not yet been said. I ask questions that take you beyond your current thinking, challenge assumptions, and offer observations for you to examine without requiring you to agree.

The aim is not a clever conversation. It is clearer judgment and forward movement: a choice, a conversation, a skill to practice, an experiment to run, or a next action that fits the situation.

Your agency stays intact

Coaching does not replace your judgment with mine. I do not decide what you should want, sell a guaranteed result, or make your choices for you.

That does not mean every answer is already inside you. You may need facts, options, training, or guidance from a rav, therapist, lawyer, accountant, doctor, or another expert. Coaching can help identify what is missing and integrate it into the larger decision.

How it differs from advice, consulting, and therapy

Advice recommends what to do. Consulting may diagnose an organizational problem and deliver specialized recommendations. Therapy may diagnose or treat clinical concerns and work with healing. Coaching focuses on your judgment, choices, behavior, skills, implementation, and learning from what happens next.

These forms of help can complement one another. The important thing is to name the role accurately and bring in the right expertise when the situation calls for it.

Where the boundary matters

Coaching should stay accurately named. I will say when the situation calls for a different professional or another form of support.
